=-3

So if Jimmy owes you 9 dollars, but only has 6 at the moment, he still owes you 3 dollars.

When you're adding negatives and positives these are some important rules to remember:
When you have more negatives KEEP the negative sign.
If you have more positives you can get rid of the negative sign.

When you're adding a negative and a positive think of subtracting.

2. 7+ -3 = 4
