change 1/3 and 2/3 so the denominators are 9
1×3=3
3×3=9
2×3=6
3×3=9
your new fraction are 3/9 and 6/9, now you can add the numerators
2+3+6=11
your answer is:11/9
if simplified your answer would be 1 2/9
